Being grateful for all that you have even when times are bad fosters resilience. Gratitude also helps to reduce stress and helps us recover from traumatic events. A study found that gratitude was a contributing factor to resilience after the September 11 terrorist attacks.[10]

What to do: Gratitude is a choice and can be cultivated. Instead of complaining about something, take a few moments to think about what you have to be thankful for.
