9. Chewing some gum is a proven coping strategy for stress
In a study published in the Physiology & Behaviour of 22 June 2009 Volume 97, Issues 3-4, the authors concluded that chewing gum reduces cortisol level and improves negative mood.[15] The end result is less stress. How this comes about is not well-understood but an improvement in the cerebral circulation is thought to be one of the reasons.
What to do: If you are concerned about the sugar in the chewing gum, then look for Xylitol sweetened gum and avoid the toxic artificial sweeteners.
